Casa Rosario Spanish School, San Pedro la Laguna's oldest
and best Spanish School, is one of only three accredited Spanish
schools in San Pedro. Each student has an individual teacher, so he can
progress at his/her own pace. A home stay with a local family is recommended
to learn the quickest. Unlike most other schools we place only one
student per family (unless the student requests to share with a friend or
family member), so the student gets the most out of the home stay. The
school also has rooms with kitchen access for those who do not wish to stay
with a family. We are happy to adjust our program for people with special
needs, such as families with children. Casa Rosario has the most beautiful
garden in San Pedro where the students study. It is at the edge of Lake
Atitlán. For students who wish to spend some time helping the local Maya
community there are volunteer and
sponsorship opportunities (button at left). Casa
Rosario administers a program that provides financial assistance for
schooling of some of the poorest Maya children in neighboring villages,
children who otherwise would drop out of school. Most common questions are
answered on the website, but before you email me with questions, please read
the FAQ page of the Frequently Asked Questions. Many people come to Guatemala to study Spanish intensively before traveling to other parts of Central America, Mexico and South America. Among all the Spanish language schools in Guatemala Casa Rosario in San Pedro la Laguna is certainly one of the gems. It has the most beautiful location, and probably the cheapest prices. The teachers all have teaching degrees and years of experience teaching Spanish to non-Spanish speaking foreigners. The school is a short distance from Lake Atitlán, where even at 6:00a.m. a dip in the water is warm but refreshing. Casa Rosario works in accordance with the time the student has available to study whether it be a week or a couple of months. Most students choose to study only half a day, so the other half can be used to visit traditional Mayan towns a short walk or boat ride away, or perhaps to take a horse ride up the Volcano San Pedro. Casa Rosario provides cayucos free of charge for the use of its students. Attending this school is undoubtedly like having your cake and eating it too. |

| The classes at Casa Rosario are one student with one teacher. For twenty hours of classes a week the prices run from $75 for classes without lodging to $130 where the student lives and eats with a Spanish speaking Mayan family in the town. Casa Rosario is one of the few Spanish schools in Guatemala to provide housing for the students at the school. This runs only $15 more a week ($90) and comes with kitchen privileges. | |
